In this podcast episode, I interview Brian Sumner, a pastor/evangelist from Liverpool, England who moved to America when he was age 15 to pursue a career as a professional skateboarder. Brian turned professional at the age of 19 and skateboarded for some of the biggest companies like Birdhouse, Airwalk, Adio, Fender Guitars, Truth Soul Armor, and Reliance Skateboards. He spent many summers traveling the US with Tony Hawk’s Gigantic skate park tour. He wrote, produced, directed, filmed and edited a skateboard video called, “The Tao of Skateboarding.” Brian has a fascinating story about how he came to follow Jesus and how he serves as a pastor/evangelist today.

In this episode, I interview three of the five Thompson siblings—Jordan Taylor Thompson, Jake Wells Thompson, and Brooke Cherith Thompson. While growing up, the whole family traveled throughout America singing gospel music in evangelical, fundamentalist churches. After a difficult church experience, the whole family went through times of doubt, questions, and unbelief concerning their faith journey. Today all three siblings are singer/songwriters with a depth that reflects their spiritual journey. We recorded a few their songs for the podcast and for our bonus content.
